A native of Immokalee, Florida, Edgerrin James was born on August 1, 1978. Currently playing the position of quarterback for the NFL’s Arizona Cardinals, James has had a lot of practice when it comes to competition.After being recruited directly out of Immokalee High School in Florida, Edgerrin James enrolled in the University of Miami where he became one of the most successful running backs in the school’s history. Not only did he rank second in all-time rushing yards at the University of Miami, Edgerrin James was also the only running back in the university’s history to post two consecutive seasons with 1,000+ rushing yards. In addition, he holds the school’s record for most rushing touchdowns in a single season, which is currently 17, and also ranks first with the most 100+ rushing games.From the University of Miami, Edgerrin James was drafted in the 1999 NFL Darft by the Indianapolis Colts. After signing a seven year contract, which was said to be worth $49 million, the Associated Press named Edgerrin James as the NFL’s Offensive Rookie of the Year.As James’ contract with the Colts expired, he immediately signed a new deal on Macrh 12, 2006 with the Arizona Cardinals.
